Three advantages and two disadvantages of carbon dioxide laser cutting machine

CO2 laser cutting machine, also known as CO2 laser cutting machine, is widely used in many processing industries like fiber laser cutting machine. Compared with traditional cutting mode, it has many advantages, but also some disadvantages.

Main advantages of CO2 laser cutting machine:


1. High power, generally between 2000-4000W, can cut full-size stainless steel, carbon steel and other conventional materials within 25 mm, as well as aluminum plates within 4 mm and acrylic plates within 60MM, wood material plates, PVC plates. And it is very fast when cutting thin plates.


2. CO2 laser also has a high reflectivity for aluminum alloy. Installing a back reflection isolator can effectively protect the CO2 laser, so that aluminum alloy can be cut safely.


3. Since the CO2 laser outputs continuous laser, when cutting, the cutting section effect of the three laser cutting machines is smoother and better than the other two.


Disadvantages of CO2 laser cutting machine


1. CO2 laser cannot cut copper materials, including brass and copper. If you need to cut copper materials, only fiber laser is qualified. For CO2 lasers, copper is a highly reflective material, and the laser is almost completely reflected but not absorbed; the reflected light returns to the laser, causing harm.


2. High cost, high-power CO2 laser cutting machines have reached more than 2 million, and the maintenance cost is high. The photoelectric conversion rate during use is only 10%, and the energy consumption is high. It is inconvenient to maintain and has high operating requirements.
